The Watering Down of The Gospel

How The Envisioned Church of Jesus Christ was Changed by Power Hungry Men

Men (and women less so – that’s why I like them more!) and organisations and societies have always suffered from ‘Big-Case Itis’ and the Popes and Bishops and church clergy have never been any different. The male ego is probably the hardest thing to tame apart from the tongue on the planet! But in The Bible we are all ‘priests’, those who call themselves Popes, Bishops and Priests are called in The Bible ‘stewards’, ‘servants’, ‘ministers’ and serve the people in the church – not lord over them! And The Bible never says a minster cannot marry – in fact it says each ‘pastor’ of the flock should be preferably married with children and know how to look after them both! The reason for this is so obvious I will not bother to explain it.

Accordingly as the Bishops of Rome demanded more power the church began to come apart as Jesus envisioned it. In the 4th and 5th centuries as the gospel was slowly but surely watered down and relieved of its’ real power to change peoples’ lives – the true worship of god and the inner conviction of the Holy Spirt gave way to ritual and ceremonies and more and more pagan practices were mingled in.

The real Christianity was whitewashed with something that was nothing like a real church where leaders and church members accordingly began more and more to honour people with their lips and not with their faith and actions.

So now the church was no longer the body of Christ united by faith and love and good works of real meaning. Now it was full of works of ‘salvation’ under the bishops and on and on. And institution dominated by a heir-achy of elders.

Yes – many many churches are full of good people and good intensions and are good places to go and worship god and fellowship with other sincere believers! So despite what was said above and the documentary below – most church goers, and many of the people that work in them – including some of the leaders have no real idea about how the original model of the church to be build from living stones (people) was started, changed or that it matters that it was changed.

We are not here to cause division among the brethren but get you thinking and questioning how things are ‘done’ and if they are right or not in God’s eyes in relation to the freedom that God wanted for his people in his son. Being a Christian is not only about re-forming people and ourselves into the image of Christ – it is also about re-forming churches into the church that God envisaged – and according to The Bible, the final authority for this is The Bible – not the ‘church’ or the priest!
