The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes (I think that’s the book but look it up yourself) that; “men are more stupid than birds” and it’s right. Think about it, God gives us (absolutely free) the most incredible exo-suit for our soul so it can experience light, sounds, smell, taste, exhilarating experiences for real, with real people, in real time, to give us real pleasure, and man thinks he is ‘clever’ to try to re-create a virtual version of this you can wear on your head and experience the whole show digitally (which in fact may be the method God uses already which would mean man is at best only creating a poor imitation of what He already created – we shall see).
I do feel sorry for these people and will cringe at the shock they will experience when they unexpectedly meet with the one who designed their minds and bodies, who for-knew his beings would attempt to copy and ‘improve’ his designs all those eons ago, but who having chosen to ignore God’s account of how their mind and spirit appeared in the cosmos without their consent in the first place are wilfully blind and so blinded to truth.
It is nuts when you think about it. We invent Oculus Rift when we already have one that runs on bio-technology infinitely more incredible. No matter how many gigggga-bytes of memory we can add to our brains and upload our minds to the cloud we will never become the gods we are so desperate;y trying to become. How do I know?
Oh I know “all this technology will be used to help people who have health problems and injuries” – the usual line trotted out which we all know is used by universities, business men, space programs and scientists as a means to get funding for their hair-brained ideas and continue playing with their toys rather than be thankful for what God has already given us and get a real job. Look, I’m not against technology, the truth is I love it – it’s just the mindset of most of the people who pursue it – with false motives – let’s face it, it’s usually about money and fame, and money and fame that pushes the boundaries of technology.
The Bible tells us. It tells us that we once had the kind of bodies that Ray Curzwell is so desperate to re-create by ingesting a bazillion vitamin pills each morning and we had the kinds of bodies and minds with god-like (I didn’t say we were Gods people) minds and bodies – made in the IMAGE of God – I say it again – not God’s in our own right but God-like – there can only be ONE all-powerful being after all.
The descent of man
Monkeys haven’t turned to men – men are rapidly turning into monkeys with lots of monkey business to go with it.
And he placed these limits on us and cursed us with sicknesses because we sinned by listening to the serpent – the voice of evil – of untruth – of confusion – of Babylon and not the voice of the God that created and loves us and originally placed only 1 limit on us – namely that we not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
We chose not to remain in God’s presence – and man still displays this same desire to remain separated from Him today, preferring to keep hold of his sins which he loves so dearly (the real reason men claim to be atheist is that they don’t want to be accountable to God). And what did the serpent do that was so wrong – he wanted to u-searp his maker and become God himself. But God has clearly made monkeys of rebellious men.
And before you think – what an evil God to take away our ever-lasting super-bodies and minds and give us fallen fleshly bodies that now only live to 100 odd – far from it – God knows that placing these limits on us is the ONLY way we can stop us from destroying ourselves and give us any chance of redemption. He is far wiser than any man will ever know. This scientist versus God’s decrees is truly a mouse versus elephant situation.
