Love in love and more love surely? What’s with all the ‘deed’ and ‘truth’ stuff?
Well, the Bible’s words are love – in DEED and in TRUTH.
So let’s get this straight, I have to love, by doing good works and by telling people the truth? This is works salvation!?
Listen – we are not talking about salvation man, we all know that Jesus paid the price for our salvation – we are talking about what the Bible says on how we love!
So yep! Loving someone is not telling them how much you like them or even telling them that you love them. Loving them is DOING good deeds for them (remember it says; “love in deed”) and by speaking truth over them. In other words – not telling them their sin that you are aware of is OK but speaking the truth that is written in the Bible! Now you must say this in love and do it on a one to one basis (don’t forget confess your many faults also) and NEVER in an aloof holier-than-thou way!
Loving someone is calling them when they are alone, taking them some food or good cheer. Taking them some Bible verses and encouragement! Loving someone is asking if there is anything YOU can do for THEM – yes that’s right – I mean actually getting off your backside and doing something that doesn’t necessarily mean just inviting them to a nice warm watered down church sermon or comfy coffee morning social – I mean do something that costs you and REALLY practically helps them so they can SEE your love (remember we were told; “the greatest of these is charity” – yep sorry to break it to you folks but charity is good works!) – give your time and money. Go after the lost sheep and comfort and help the sheep that are struggling!
Don’t forget – we are saved buy faith – but REWARDED by works. So this is not works salvation – it’s works so that; “other men may see your good deeds and believe!” So that others who are lost may see God in YOU! Just like God did the ultimate and best good work ever done by giving up his entire life that could have been very comfortable than you very much and ultimately gave up his physical body for us!
One other point – I would not suggest focusing on your reward here – decide in your mind – i.e in secret – to do all things in in the service and the betterment of others – not to receive a reward – otherwise your reward will be the praise of men only! If you do this – you WILL be rewarded!
