Politics

Why Jesus Had Little Time for Politics

When I was growing up I aways thought a politician was someone that tried to do good things in the community or city and make the world a better place. Well in the main it used to be once – if you g back fifty to a hundred years – in the United Kingdom and I would wager in The United States too if not many other nations. But nowadays it’s just become a game even in these countries – a vocation – a who has the most campaign money wins – a way to get rich – get on TV – get respect (from the wrong people I might add), and unfortunately much more along the lines of this dictionary definition of politics;

Politics (from Greek: πολιτικός politikos, definition “of, for, or relating to citizens”) is the practice and theory of influencing other people

As we see, whether it’s influencing people to vote for what is good or bad is not part of the definition of ‘politics’ – it’s a about maneuvering to get what you want – be it right or wrong. Politics should never be about left, right or centre – even as a kid I could see that was a game – it should be about doing what’s what’s right!

Why the love of money really is the root of all evil

Unfortunately however, as long as central banks (which should be outlawed like they once were in the USA – as governments should print their own money – not be beholden to PRIVATE bankers) are funding big businesses, the media, rouge nations, arms dealers, one nation against another, political parties and the politicians – and unless The Donald, despite his own sins really is the antidote to this political bribery and corruption (unusually he has enough of his own cash to not need to be bought by anyone and at least has the potential to do what’s right rather than what will line his pockets and career), we may have to wait a long time.

A prayer for God to raise some real leaders

Dear Lord, please bring back some politicians with real guts and honour – instead of all the weak-willed – lilly-livered, bought, politically correct, tweedly dee vs tweedly dum, oily salesmen and women we have today who behave more like children in the playground than wise adults – willing to bow to anyone with a big enough check, pay rise, or offer of political promotion in their hand.

Christians should still vote (my opinion)

The fact that Jesus was not big on politics and politicians – knowing their slipperyness – does not mean we Christians should not vote for those that we believe will make the country most fertile for hearing what is really needed – the gospel and the ten commandments. Are you in doubt about that? Then consider you only had two people to vote for to run America; a) a sinful politician (like all of us to more or less degree) that had a long list of small to medium sized misdemeanours or b) Adolf Hilter? The example is extreme but it illustrates the point – my belief that God would not be pleased if given the choice we did not as Christians get of our backsides and vote for the lesser of those two evils and keep evil as far away as possible for as long as possible!

No person (or country) can be slave to two masters

To see the above corruption in action, we only need to look at UK politicians bowing to the EU gravy-train and selling out Britain to a bunch of unelected b-eurocrats – no doubt with plenty of implied promises of lucrative political careers and/or business deals in the future if they agree sell us out under the guise of it being “better for Britain”. As if any country can be slave to two masters and hope to remain prosperous long term.

In case you are in any doubt about the love of money (not money in itself) being traceable as the root cause of all our earthly problems – watch this video.
