The attitude of contemporary culture for marriage is; “what’s in it for me?” Unfortunately this approach to marriage is doomed to failure as we see clearly in marriage statistics out and more worryingly – inside the church, as it misses the whole point of why God created marriage – to demonstrate where real love – real love – real happiness lies – in servitude – not getting what you want. Those who love their own life will lose it, those who give up their life and lay it down for others will find it.
The words of the Bible are not wrong, it’s starts with a marriage – and ends with one – Jesus is married to his bride – the church. Human marriage is designed to reflect Jesus laying down his life and becoming one and merging with his bride.
